About Us

Galvano Helbling was founded in 1954 by Hugo Helbling in Reconvilier, Bernese Jura, initially as a sole proprietorship, later transitioning to a limited partnership. Since 1956, the company has been located on Paulusweg in Biel. In 1974, the building was expanded by an additional floor, and the wastewater treatment facility was commissioned.

– Portrait

In 1987, Rolf Helbling joined the company, transforming the partnership into a collective partnership. After Hugo Helbling‘s unexpected death in 1988, Rolf Helbling took over the business in its second generation.

Over time, many areas have been renovated and modernized. Today, Galvano Helbling employs 10 to 15 staff members and has a long history of successfully training apprentices.

With the return of Thomas Helbling, the third generation is now also represented. The goal remains to continue meeting customer demands with high quality and flexibility in the future.

– Commitment

Galvano Helbling regularly supports regional and national associations and is involved in charitable activities through the Kiwanis Service Club.

– Infrastructure

Even as a small company, we consistently invest in our infrastructure. Additionally, Galvano Helbling maintains a high standard in the upkeep of its coating baths. Visitors to our facility are typically impressed by the consistently clean appearance of our production site.

– Environment

Environmental protection is a key focus in electroplating. Switzerland has strict regulations and laws governing the handling of highly toxic chemicals and liquids, which we fully comply with in practice.

Beyond this, we aim to continuously improve our environmental management. Wastewater containing high concentrations of heavy metals and other toxic substances is treated and detoxified in our wastewater treatment facility. By optimizing rinsing techniques, we have also minimized water consumption.

With the application of extremely thin coatings and the resulting corrosion protection, Galvano Helbling contributes to conserving our valuable raw materials.

Quality

Quality is our top priority. Thanks to manual electroplating, we can act with exceptional flexibility. Specializing in small to medium series ensures a high standard in quality management.

Quality Standards

Everything that leaves our company is perfect. To ensure this, all produced workpieces are inspected and, if requested, verified and documented with state-of-the-art measuring and control devices.

If desired, we also offer 100% inspection of components. Our quality philosophy also includes personalized services, customer-focused support, and expert advice.

Certifications

Galvano Helbling has been certified according to the strict EN 9100:2018 aerospace standard since 2021. For us, this management system is far more than a certificate; we live our certification every day with the solutions from Synovision.ch.

Layer Thickness Measurement

Compliance with specified layer requirements is meticulously verified. Measurements are performed using X-ray devices or, for larger parts, with a magnetic inductive method. Depending on the order, measurements are conducted either randomly or on every single piece.

If desired, a detailed measurement protocol can, of course, be provided. An example can be found here.
